3 Important Things You Need To Do On Social Media

Social media can be daunting and it can be hard to keep up with the ever changing platforms, trends and content creation. If you're still managing your own social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest or TikTok then you'll most likely be spending quite a bit of time creating content, editing, scheduling - the list goes on!

Before you get too overwhelmed with everything that managing a social media account requires, read below to see the three most important things you need to do!

1. Share Valuable Content

What is social media without content!? It's important to share content that will add value to your exisiting audience and shows them what your business or service is. Attract new followers by providing valuable content, which in turn will hopefully transition them to a customer!

Don't forget that each platform is different and you will have to post accordingly. What may work on one platform, may not be the value add on another. If you're on multiple platforms but are finding that your followers on one is resonating a lot more with your product, then try and post more frequently on that one.

Stuck on ideas of what to post!? Post a mix of user generated content with some community posts e.g. your local coffee shop that you frequent or some authors that you're loving. If you're still stuck, then take a look at what your competitors are doing but remember not to copy it, just take inspiration from it and put your own twist on it!

2. Engage With The Community

This one is super important! How many times have you reached out to a business on social media and haven't received a response? It's not only annoying, it's actually a missed opportunity! Social media is one of the ways a customer can reach you, so don't forget to be accessible! There is no point in posting content and not responding to a comment or direct message. It's a one way conversation and people want to feel like they're heard (not just spoken to).

The easiest way to show your community that you're accessible is by checking your direct message inbox (and the requests folder) at least once a day. They'll most likely be wanting more information on a product or service and may be so close to converting. You'll help fasten the process by providing the best customer service through this platform.

3. Keep An Eye On Your Insights

Last but not least, check your insights! It will tell you how you are performing on each specific platform. It will tell you all kinds of things like who your audience is, what times they're most active, what posts are performing best and how many visit your profile and website. You'll be able to see what kind of content performs better - is it your Instagram Reel or a Pinterest Infographic? From here, you'll be able to tweak and finesse your content plan and attract new followers and generate an interest in your brand.
